Terms of service
Last updated: 24 October 2026
These terms apply when you book a repair with Gadget Surgery, whether you drop your device off at our Leicester workshop or post it to us, and when you use our website gadgetsurgery.co.uk. Please read them before booking. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
1. About us
Gadget Surgery is a trading name of Aratel Trading LTD, a company registered in England and Wales [company number: 13977808].
- Workshop: 22 Crown Hills Avenue, Leicester LE5 4HD (by appointment only)
- Email: [email protected]
- Phone and WhatsApp: 0786 704 1717
- Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 8am to 10pm, by appointment
We are an independent repairer. We are not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or any other manufacturer.
2. Our services
We repair games consoles and controllers, including PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles and their controllers. The repairs we offer and their prices are shown on our website.
3. Booking a repair
You can book online, by phone, by WhatsApp or by email. Your contract with us starts when we confirm your booking (for example, by order confirmation email or message).
When you book, please describe the fault as accurately as you can and tell us about any previous repairs, liquid damage or drops. This helps us diagnose the fault and give you an accurate price.
4. Prices and payment
- Our prices are fixed and shown on each repair page. Prices include VAT where applicable.
- Postal repairs: the price shown includes return postage by Royal Mail Tracked. Insured return by Royal Mail Special Delivery is available for an extra charge, shown at checkout.
- Drop-off repairs: if you bring your device to our Leicester workshop by appointment, the price is £10 less than the postal price for consoles and £5 less for controllers, because there is no return postage.
- Some repairs, such as controller repairs, have a base fee plus the cost of the specific repair you choose (for example, replacing one or both sticks). The total is shown before you pay.
- Postal repairs are paid for when you book online. Drop-off repairs may be paid at booking or on collection, as we agree with you.
5. Diagnosis and quotes
Diagnosis is free. If we find that your device has a different or additional fault from the one you booked, we will contact you with a quote before doing any extra work. We will not charge you for extra work you have not agreed to. If you decide not to go ahead, we will return your device as described in section 6, and refund any amount you have paid for the repair, minus any charge set out in section 6.
6. If we can't repair your device
- Drop-off repairs in Leicester: no fix, no fee. If we can't repair it, there is nothing to pay.
- Postal repairs: if we can't repair your device, we will refund what you paid for the repair, minus a £10 charge to cover return postage and handling.
7. Sending your device by post
- Please pack your device securely, ideally in its original box or a sturdy box with plenty of padding. Include a note with your name, order number and phone number.
- You are responsible for the device until it arrives with us, including the cost of sending it. We recommend a tracked and insured service.
- Please only send the device itself. Remove game discs, memory cards, cases and accessories unless we have asked for them. We cannot accept responsibility for items sent that were not needed for the repair.
- We will let you know when your device arrives.
8. How long repairs take
Most repairs are finished the same day we receive the device. Some repairs take longer, for example when a part needs to be ordered or a fault is complex. Any times we give are estimates; we will keep you updated if a repair will take longer than expected.
9. Parts
We use high-quality replacement parts. These may be compatible or refurbished parts rather than parts made by the original manufacturer. Parts we remove from your device are disposed of responsibly unless you ask us to return them when you book.
10. Your data and accounts
We repair hardware and do not need access to the games, accounts, saved data or other personal content on your device. We take reasonable care not to affect your data, but some repairs can carry a risk of data loss. Please back up anything important and sign out of accounts where you can before sending or dropping off your device. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your personal information.
11. Manufacturer warranty
An independent repair may affect any remaining manufacturer warranty on your device. If your device is still under manufacturer warranty, you may wish to contact the manufacturer first.
12. Existing damage and hidden faults
Some devices have existing damage or hidden faults, such as liquid damage, corrosion, previous repairs or damaged circuit boards, which may only become clear once the device is opened. These can mean a repair is not possible, or that other faults appear that are unrelated to our repair. We will tell you if we find anything like this. We are not responsible for existing faults or damage that our repair did not cause.
13. Our 90-day warranty
Every repair comes with a 90-day warranty from the date the repair is completed. It covers the part we replaced and the work we carried out. If the same fault comes back within 90 days, contact us and we will inspect and re-repair the device free of charge, including return postage for postal repairs.
The warranty does not cover:
- new physical damage, drops or impacts after the repair
- liquid damage after the repair
- faults in parts we did not repair or replace
- devices that have since been opened or repaired by someone else
- normal wear and tear
Our warranty is in addition to your legal rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, we must carry out our services with reasonable care and skill. If we don't, you are entitled to ask us to repeat the work, or if that isn't possible, to a price reduction or refund.
14. Your right to cancel
If you book online, by phone or by email without visiting our workshop, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of your booking being confirmed, without giving a reason.
- If you cancel before we start work, we will refund you in full within 14 days, using the payment method you used.
- If you asked us to start the repair within the 14-day cancellation period (for example, by sending us your device for a repair), and you cancel after we have started, we may charge you for the work done up to the point you cancel.
- Once the repair has been fully completed at your request, you will no longer have the right to cancel. Your rights under our warranty and the law still apply.
- To cancel, contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp using the details in section 1.
15. Collecting your device and uncollected devices
We will let you know when your repair is ready. Please collect drop-off repairs within 30 days of us telling you it's ready.
If a device is not collected, we will contact you using the details you gave us. If a device is still not collected 90 days after we first told you it was ready, and we have sent you written notice of our intention, we may sell or dispose of it as allowed by the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977. We may keep from any sale proceeds any money you owe us for the repair and reasonable storage costs, and will hold the rest for you.
16. Our responsibility to you
If we fail to comply with these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
We repair devices for domestic and private use only. If you use the device for business purposes, we are not responsible for any loss of profit, loss of business or business interruption.
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for breach of your legal rights as a consumer.
17. Complaints
If you are unhappy with our service, please contact us first using the details in section 1. We aim to respond within 5 working days and will do our best to put things right.
18. Using our website
We try to keep the information on our website accurate and up to date, but it may occasionally contain errors. If a price is clearly wrong, we will contact you before carrying out the repair. The content of our website, including text, images and logos, belongs to us or our licensors and may not be copied without our permission. Our website may link to other websites, which we are not responsible for.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your repair are the ones shown on our website when you booked.
20. Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales; if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
